Cell Phone Pouches
(Made completely in the hoop in 2 easy steps!)

Click on this link to see the designs:  Cell Phone Pouches
Printing instructions: Click here

Supplies:
Vilene or Aqua Magic wash away stabilizer to fit your hoop
Fabric - 1 piece 4 1/4" x 6" for pocket, 2 pieces 4" x 8" for base. (starch fabric until nice & crisp for easier trimming)
Felt - 1 piece 4 /14" x 6" for pocket, 1 piece 4" x 8" for base. (steam iron felt to pre-shrink before using)
Tip: Use felt the same color as your fabric. I just used 9" x 12" felt squares available in a wide variety of colors. (Jo-Ann Fabrics)
One 3/4" button
Tip: If your fabric frays easily, iron knit interfacing to the wrong side to make it easier to trim.
Use same color thread in bobbin as first color listed in the design for both pieces.
For the cell pouch base, use the same thread color as color #1 in the pocket design you are using.
There are little circles digitized in each design to add swarovski crystals (10ss size) for extra bling bling!
Of course, they look great without them too!
NOTE:  The pouches are made slightly different in 5x7 hoops.

s.
1.  Always make the pocket first!  Hoop vilene in your hoop. First outline is sewn directly on the vilene.  (no fabric yet) 2.  Remove hoop & flip hoop to the back side.  Center your fabric so that it covers the entire outline.  Tape in place.
3. Flip hoop to right side, center felt with fabric on top to cover the entire outline again.  Tape in place, put hoop on machine.  (Picture shows batting but I used felt the same color as the fabric after this!) 4.  The second color in the design tacks the fabric & felt down on both sides of the hoop.  The outline will stitch twice.
5.  Remove hoop, trim the excess fabric & felt from the top curved edge only on both sides of hoop!  Do not cut into the wash away stabilizer.  6. Stitch the design on the front of the pocket following the step by step instructional text file for the design you are using.
7.  The last step in the design stitches the satin edge across the top.  8.  Remove hoop, trim the top edge from the vilene cutting about 1/16" from the edge to keep from snipping the satin stitching on the edge.
9.  Use a straight edge and rotary cutter to trim the excess fabric close to the stitches at the sides and bottom.  Run a warm wet rag along the top to dissolve the vilene.  Set aside and let dry. 10.  Send the cell base design to your machine.  Hoop vilene in hoop. First outline is sewn directly on the vilene. (no fabric yet) Also stitches pocket  placement lines on each side.
11.  Remove hoop & flip over, center fabric to cover entire outline & tape in place.  Flip hoop to right side and center felt with fabric on top over outline, tape in place.  Put hoop on machine.   12.  The next step tacks fabric & felt down.  (outline stitches twice)
13.  Remove hoop, trim the excess fabric & felt from around outline on both sides of hoop.  Trim the little jump stitches between the pocket placement lines and the sides of the base outline.  14.  Center pocket inside placement marks on each side and  even with the top of the placement marks.  Tape in place.  Fold the little tab down & tape down to keep it out of the line of stitching.  The next step tacks the pocket down.
15.  Remove hoop, trim excess fabric around pocket close to the stitches.  Keep tab taped down out of the way.  Put hoop on machine.  16.  The last step in the design stitches the final satin edging around the cell pouch covering the raw edges of the fabric.
17.  Trim the design from the vilene staying at least 1/16" from the satin stitches along the edge.  Run a warm wet rag along the edge to dissolve the remaining stabilizer.  Sew a 3/4" button to the top of the tab and you're finished!
