2 Year Calendar Booklet - Part# 004PC
Address Booklet - Part# 004AB
1.  Make the back piece of the cover first. Hoop a piece of vilene washaway stabilizer big enough to fit your hoop.   First outline sewn on vilene only (no fabric yet) 2.  Cut 4 pieces of fabric 4 1/2" x 7 1/2" and 2 pieces 4" x 7 1/2" for the pockets.  Iron 2 pieces of medium weight iron-on interfacing to the wrong side of 2 pieces.
Cut 2 pieces of Warm & Natural batting 4 1/2" x 7 1/2"
3. Remove hoop. Place 1 piece of fabric and 1 piece of quilt batting centered over outline.  Next, place a 2nd piece of fabric (interfacing ironed on wrong side) centered over outline on back side of hoop (under the hoop!). Use temporary adhesive spray or scotch tape to keep in place. 4.  Place hoop back on machine. The second color in the design tacks the fabric/batting down on both sides of the hoop. It also stitches little notches on each end for pocket placement.
5.  Starting here, use the same thread in the bobbin as Color # 1 so the stitches are the same on both sides. The third color in the design stitches the quilt grid. 6. Next, stitch the embroidery design on the top following the color order in the text file provided with the designs.
7.  For the pockets, take a piece of fabric 4" x 7 1/2" and fold over 1/2" and top stitch on your sewing machine. Or use 1/4" Steam-a-Seam2 to fuse the folded edge down. 8.  Remove hoop, flip over to back side. Tape pocket in place with the folded edge even with the little notches sewn on each end. If you can't see the notches, measure 3/4" down from the top edge and tape in place. Flip hoop to right side again and place hoop on machine.
9.  The next color in the design tacks the pocket down on the back side of the hoop (under the hoop). 10.  Remove hoop. Trim the fabric/ batting on both sides of hoop on both ends & the long edge with rounded corners. Do not trim the straight edge.  Put hoop on machine.
11.  This picture isn't very clear but it shows the excess fabric trimmed on both ends and along the edge with the  rounded corners.  Place hoop back on machine.
12.  The next color stitches the satin edge on the three sides.  The satin stitching on the edge will stop about 1/2" from the top straight edge.
13.  When finished, flip the hoop over & trim the design away from the stabilizer.  When trimming, try to stay at least 1/16" from the edge to keep from cutting into the satin stitches along the edge.
14.  With a ruler and rotary cutter, trim the excess fabric along the straight edge.  Trim as close to the stitches as possible, right next to the stitches. This just shows how I trimmed the fabric away right next to the stitches.  Set the back piece aside.  DO NOT wet the design to remove the vilene stabilizer yet!!
15.  Now let's make the front of the cover!  There are stitches sewn to one side which keeps the design to one side in the hoop to allow room for the back piece later.
Now, just follow the instructions above (Steps 2 - 11) but trim the fabric/batting on all 4 sides of the design this time.
16.  Now, take the back piece you created earlier and place it in the hoop right next to the edge of the front piece and tape in place. Make sure the outlines stitches on the ends are directly in line with each other. Tape in place and put hoop back on machine.
17.  This picture just shows how the back piece was taped in place.  18.  The next color stitches the satin edge around the three edges of the front cover.
19.  The last color in the design joins the front and back together with satin stitching down the middle and finishes the satin stitching along the edge on both ends. 20.  Remove design from hoop and carefully trim the design from the stabilizer.  Run a warm wet rag along the edges to remove the remaining stabilizer.  Do NOT wet it too much when removing the stabilizer!  Let dry.
Note:  After I took these step by step pictures I flipped the designs vertically so that more of the design remained on the bed of the machine for stability.  So please don't be alarmed if your design stitches upside down and on the opposite side of the hoop!  The end result is exactly the same. For example: In my pictures the back part is taped in place on the left side of the hoop but in the actual design you will tape the back on at the right side of the hoop.
