Mini Frames finished size:  Size 3.8" x 3.8"
Picture openings range from 1 3/4" x 2" up to 2" x 2 1/4" (Square openings are 2" square)

Supplies needed:
Aqua Magic or Vilene (wash away stabilizer)
Pellon "Craft Fuse"
Cotton fabric & Embroidery thread
Note:  Pellon Craft Fuse is used to stiffen fabric.  Place shiny, adhesive side against the wrong side of the fabric and with a hot, dry iron and slight pressure iron the Craft Fuse to the fabric.  Craft Fuse adds body and strength to fabrics used for eyeglass cases, tote bags, hat brims, soft luggage, etc.  Cut edges will not ravel.

Preparation:
Cut 1 piece of fabric & 1 piece of Pellon Craft Fuse 4 1/2" x 9" . Iron the Craft fuse onto the wrong side of the fabric per manufacturer's instructions. Cut the strip in half so that you have 2 pieces 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". On one piece fold down one edge 1/2" and top stitch on your sewing machine. This piece will go on the back side of the frame to form a pocket.

1.  Hoop 1 piece of Aqua Magic (or Vilene) and sew the first outline on the stabilizer only. (No fabric yet!) 2. Place one piece of fabric over the outline just sewn.
Make sure the fabric covers the outline completely
3. Sew the second outline. This will secure the fabric to the Aqua Magic. The outline for the picture opening will be sewn in this step as well. 4.  Remove hoop & trim the fabric from inside the outline for picture opening.  Be careful not to cut into Aqua Magic, leave it in the opening as it is needed to support the final satin stitch outline. Place hoop back on machine.
5.  Next, you will sew the zig zag underlay and the final satin outline of the picture opening.  Sew out the rest of the design elements until you get to the color stop that tells you to sew the outer outline again. 6.  Take your other piece of  4 1/2" x 4 1/2"fabric and fold down 1/2" and then top stitch on your sewing machine.
7. Remove hoop from machine & clip all jump stitches. Turn hoop over on backside. Spray the other fabric piece with temporary adhesive & place it over the outline (on back side of hoop) with the top stitched edge 1/2" down from the top edge of the frame design.  8.  Place hoop back on machine.  Sew the final single outline which will secure the fabric on the back side of the hoop.  This will form a pocket so you can slide the picture into the frame after it is completed.
9.  Remove hoop & trim the excess fabric from both the front & the back of the hoop.  Do not cut into the Aqua Magic. 10.  Place hoop back on machine and sew the final satin stitch outline around the mini frame.
11. Remove hoop & trim the Aqua Magic from inside the picture opening and then turn the hoop over & trim the frame from the Aqua Magic. Do not cut too close to the satin stitching & end up nicking the threads!  12.  Now, just take a warm wet rag and run it along the edge of picture opening and edges to dissolve the remaining Aqua Magic. Let it dry for just a few minutes.
13.  Place two strips of 1/2" wide magnetic tape (the kind with adhesive on it) on the top & bottom edge of the frame.  Place your favorite billfold size photo inside the pocket and display it on your refrigerator or file cabinet at work!
