Printing instructions: Click here

Finished Size:  approximately 8 1/2"W" x 9"H (depending on the width of your seams)
Supplies:
2 pieces of 100% cotton fabric 10" x 22"
1 piece of 100% cotton quilt batting 10" x22"
Disclaimer for Potato Bags:  Please use the Potato Bags according to your microwave instructions and do not leave bags unattended when using.  There have been reports of scorching in some of the newer more powerful microwaves with higher wattage.  The use of these designs does not imply that I ensure the safety of these bags. You must determine for yourself if they are safe to use in your microwave.

I have seen recommendations to use 100% cotton fabric and natural cotton batting with rayon embroidery thread for the embroidery design but as I said before, I can't guarantee this.  All microwaves have different power levels and so I cannot make recommendations that have not been tested for safety. In other words, use the potato bags at your own risk!

FIRST - embroider the potato design on the top piece of fabric centered 6" down from the top of 10" width edge.
Step 1 - Cut 2 pieces of fabric & 1 piece of batting 10" x 22". Place fabric right sides together & place the batting on top. Pin the short 10" sides together. (I used prequilted fabric) Step 2 - Sew a 1/2" seam along the top and bottom (10" sides) with right sides together.
Step 3 - Turn right side out, top stitch at the top and bottom. Step 4 - Place on table with the inside of the bag facing up.
Step 5 - Place a mark 2" down from the top of one edge and fold the bag up to the 2" mark. Step 6 - Nest,  fold the 2" over the top and pin.
Step 7 - Pin the 2" lip through the front part only, so you can turn it. Step 8 - With the lip pinned in place, turn the bag inside out as shown above.
Step 9 - Pin together along the sides and stitch them together. This 2" lip is inside when pinned.  Step 10 - This picture show how it should look after you have sewn the sides together. (Serge edges if desired)
Step 11 - Turn bag right side out.  This is the front view. Step 12 - This is the back view after it has been turned right side out.  Now turn the 2" lip over to the front side of the bag so that it is right side out.

Here's the finished Potato Bag!

And here are some instructions you can print and place inside the bag to tell people how to use it:

BAKED POTATO BAG
This simple bag creates a "just right" baked potato in your microwave.  The inside is well
done, yet moist, and the skin remains tender. The bag will cook one to four medium sized
potatoes at once.  Simply wash and dry your Potatoes. DO NOT PRICK!!  Wrap the potatoes
in a paper towel and place in bag.  Microwave as instructed by the microwave manufacturer.
Time will vary per microwave.
When serving, do not cut with knife, simply use a fork. potatoes will be very fluffy.
Let the bag air dry. ENJOY!!
